Privacy Policy

James: My Companion (“the app”) is a Bible-study and prayer app. This policy explains what the app collects, why, and your choices. We aim to collect as little as possible.

What stays only on your device

Your journal entries and study progress are stored locally on your phone. They are never uploaded to us and we cannot read them.

What is stored online (only if you use the Pray tab)

The prayer features require a shared database (provided by Supabase) so your group can see one another’s requests. If you use the Pray tab, we store:

A first name you choose (shown to your group so they know who is praying).
An anonymous account ID created for your device (no email or password required).
Prayer requests and “I’m praying” taps you post, visible only to approved members of your group.
Group membership (which groups you’ve created or joined).

We do not collect your email, phone number, contacts, location, or browsing activity. We do not show ads and we do not track you across other apps or websites.

How your prayer information is used

Only to make the prayer features work — showing requests to your group, showing who is praying, and letting group owners approve members and moderate content. Prayer requests are visible only to approved members of the group they were posted in. Group owners can hide or remove content, and any member can report a post, which hides it pending review.

Sharing

We do not sell or share your information with advertisers. Data is stored with our hosting provider (Supabase) solely to operate the app. Sermon videos open in YouTube, which has its own privacy policy.

Your choices

You can use the studies, journal, and reading features without creating any online account.
You can leave a group at any time.
To delete your prayer data or account, contact us and we will remove it.

Children

The app is intended for a general audience. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes

We may update this policy; the “last updated” date will change accordingly.
